Clark County Historical Society Heritage Center

Simply one of the finest "local history" museums on the planet. Recently opened, located in a rehabbed building that, by itself, is a textbook on classic American architecture. Springfield has consistently been regarded for the past hundred years as the stereotypical American town. A tremendously rich architectural heritage. Be sure to take a drive downtown, via North Fountain Avenue, out East High St, and back to South Fountain Avenue.

A total restoration of Wright's circa 1904 prairie style house. Commissioned by Burton J. Westcott, a prominent Clark county businessman, owner of Westcott Motor Co., a maker of luxury touring cars. A must for architecture buffs.

Blue Jacket Outdoor Theatre
Xenia, Ohio
A summertime live outdoor theater drama. It's the story of Marmaduke Van Swearingen, a teenage white boy taken (in) by local Shawnee Indian tribesmen. He rose to became a war leader for the Indian nation. Blue Jacket, as he was named became a savvy strategist who beat many a white army.

Cedar Bog Nature Preserve
Champaign county (Urbana)
An ecological freak of nature left behind by Ice Age glaciers. About 100 acres with a cool, damp micro-climate. A cold, alkaline spring keeps the bog unusually cool and damp, while its cool air is held still and steady by warm air currents above. The highly unusual environment hosts over 100 rare and endangered species of creatures and plants which couldn't survive outside the bog. A 1-mile boardwalk through the bog takes visitors across the thick muck to otherwise inaccessible habitats. Very interesting outdoor excursion.
